Division and Multiplication in the Real World!

February 10th, 2010

Reflect on the week. Have you used division or multiplication to solve any real life situations? Share them with us!

Recently, we discussed kindness in our Afternoon Meeting. I asked you to share any form of kindness you had seen throughout the school day. I want to continue this conversation throughout the year. As we did in school, share any act of kindness you had seen without stating any names. I notice simple acts of kindness all around us, now it is your turn to keep your “eyes wide open” and notice as well.

Winter Break 09′

Hi boys and girls! I hope you are having a wonderful break! Think of one or two things you have done with friends or family that you would like to share. Remember to stay away from items (gifts) or naming people.

Snow Day!

December 19th, 2009

The Snowman

I made a great tall snowman
With two huge coal black eyes
And just to reach around his neck
Took two of Daddy’s ties.
I put a hat of mother’s
Upon his rounded head
And then I ran and left him
And hurried off to bed.
When I awoke next morning
Imagine my surprise
My snowman had run away
And left his hat, ties, and eyes!

Have a wonderful day in the snow!

What did you do on this snowy Saturday/Sunday!? Share with our class!!

PS – Writers – It would be a great addition to your writer’s notebook if made a list of snow related ideas, feelings, thoughts, or sounds!

I want to read . . .

December 13th, 2009

This is a place where you can ask your classmates and teachers if they have ever read a book about a certain topic, type of character, genre, etc., that you are interested in. Maybe someone in our class has read a book like the one you are looking for, and can recommend the book to you. In your comment, post what you look for in a good book. For example, “I’m looking for a book that is science fiction, and full of adventure. I really enjoy reading about….” Good luck finding your books!
