Books I’m Reading, and You Should Read It Too!

February 1st, 2010

We are a class of readers, and we’re always looking for a great book.  What book are you reading this week?  Remember to include the title and author of the book.  Tell us what it is about, and why do you liked it/ or didn’t like it?  If you have read a book that a friend has posted, comment about that too.  If you are wondering what this might look like, take a peek at the first post… you might like the book I’m sharing.

Happy reading!! Happy posting! – Coach

Spelling List for the Week of March 12th

March 12th, 2010

la_vocabularyGreat job everyone posting last week.  Please find below your spelling words for this week.  Don’t forget our process.  As you are reading,  look for words around the spelling patterns assigned to your particular group.   Instead of each spelling group having their own post, we will all post our words here.  When you post your words, remember to tell what the header is.  If you would like, read one another’s posts and see if you can add another word that would go with a teammate’s posts.  This will give each of us practice with a variety of patterns.  You are only required to post for your spelling pattern, but many of you said that you like to read what your friends are writing, and that is the point of the blog, so…. enjoy!!!

Answer the following questions when you post.

What are your headers?

Tell two words for each header.

Did you notice one pattern more often while you were reading than another?

Book In A Can Project

March 7th, 2010

As a class of readers, the children are always exploring new novels, and nonfiction text.  This week in addition to their posts on the blog, I would like for them to choose one of the books they are reading to make aBook In A Can Project.

Below you will find an attachment of the project.  The children may bring it into school once they are complete, but they should be brought to school by March 19th.  Your children are so creative, and this project will allow those talents to shine. :)

Incredible Iceland

March 3rd, 2010

Today we discussed the article Incredible Iceland.  Iceland is a place of fire and ice.  Fire because of the volcanos, geysers, lava, hot springs and hot ash.  Ice because of the ice, icecaps, glaciers, and glacial lakes.  We learned many “WOW” facts along the way.  Share at least two of the WOW facts that you learned.  Finally, you will find a link to a place where you can send me an e-card.  What’s a e-card?  An e-card is a card sent over the internet.  The link has some really cool e-cards, and I would love getting one from you.  Maybe you can tell me another WoW fact you learned today.

Happy Posting!!
