Ask your child about:

-Learning how to use the iPad! We are in full swing and will be using them in Reading Workshop next week to read books and do word work
-Tasting apple products such as apple cider, apple jelly, apple jacks cereal, and apple sauce
-Who Johnny Appleseed was and what he did
-Reading 10 Apples On Top and creating themselves with 10 apples on their head (handing in the hallway)
-Reading Workshop (today we put all components of reading workshop together [read to self, read to someone, word work, writing] and the children had choices on where they wanted to go)
-Playing a math game called “5 Flash” where children flashed images of dots and their partner had to recreate it (this required students to count on from the number 5 because they wouldn’t have enough time to start counting the dots from 1).
-Identifying dots/numbers on dice by playing “Roll and Record”
-What to write about during Writing Workshop when they can’t think of an idea (person, place, feeling, their photo sheet)
-Writing labels next to our sketches in Writing Workshop
-Starting a handwriting book (kept in the book box at school)
-Using a computer timer projected onto the whiteboard for students to understand how much time they have to work (they love this!)
