Monday, January 28th, 2008

If you like fantasy books, you should read Harry Potter books. There are many adventures Harry goes on. My favorite Harry Potter book is the Deathly Hallows.
If you are going to start reading Harry Potter books, you should start off by reading the first book. I also recommend reading Harry Potter.

Margaret Peterson Haddix

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Margret Peterson Haddix wrote a series of seven amazing books. The first; Among the Hidden, Among the Impostors, Among the Betrayed, Among the Barons, Among the Brave, Among the Enemy, and Among the Free. These books go back in to a time where a couple was allowed only 2 children. If they had a third child, the child would have to be killed. One reason; the Population Police are police who make sure that each family has only 2 children. Third born children to them are called “illegals.” Luke is a 3rd born child who always has to stay in hiding. He can never look out a window or step outside of his house, or he will be killed. But then, Luke meets Jen, another 3rd born child. Jen is trying to convince Luke to help her set all 3rd born children free! Will Luke help her? Read and find out!

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis

If you enjoyed Narnia the book or the movie, I think this is a great blog for you. The thing I am really looking forward to is reading are all the prequels to Narnia( The Magicians Nephew, The Horse and the Boy, Prince Caspian, The Voyage and the Dawn Treader, The silver chair, and The last battle.) I am also looking forward to seeing Narnia 2, and the advertisement looks really good. Narnia 2 comes out somewhere in June. I liked how the author described the ice castle. My favorite character is Aslan because he killed the White which. If you like mystical things and you like adventures the I think this a good blog for you.

Clements, Andrew

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Andrew Clements is my favorite author, and most of his books I read already. The big reason I like these books are because of the plot and style of writing. Andrew Clement only writes school stories (as far as I know) and some of his books are Frindle, The School Story, and Lunch Money.

Goosebumps Series, by R. L. Stine.

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

I have read many of R. L. Stine’s Goosebumps books. The author leaves you hanging at the end of each chapter. The is always a mystery left at the end. R. L. Stine describes every chapter as if he witnessed it, or a character’s feeling as if he was the character. If you like a combination of mystery and scary books (even thought the books are not really scary), you should read the Goosebumps books.

Commenting Guidelines

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

To make a comment, you must first address the person for whom you are addressing the comment to. For example, if you read something by Joseph, and you click on the comment just after his writing, your comment must start by addressing Joseph first. Read the example below of Joseph’s writing and then a comment by Samantha about what he wrote. Note that Samantha first addressed Joseph by starting her comment with “Joseph, I agree…”

I really enjoyed the author’s use of metaphors and similes throughout the book. The way she used words was creative and made it a lot of fun for me to read.

Joseph, I agree with you that the metaphors and similes made it interesting to read. My favorite simile was “it’s as white as a cotton ball.”

Because of Winn-Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

Because of Winn-Dixie is a nice, sweet story about a stray dog finding a 10 year old girl (or the other way around) in a grocery store and they become the best of freinds. You will love the suspense, the kindness, and all because of a little dog, a great adventure will begin. Want to know that story:?: Well, read the book to find out!

Shakespeare’s Secret, by Elise Broach

Friday, January 25th, 2008

I really enjoyed Shakespeare’s Secret. It is about a girl named Hero, who just moved into town, and hears that there is a diamond in her new house. She is determined to find it, and in the process, learns some interesting facts about William Shakespeare, which might reveal his true identity.
