So You Want To Be A Wizard, by Diane Duane

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

So You Want To Be A Wizard, huh? Well, Nita (Juanita) Callahan and Kit (Christopher) Rodriguez found a book called “So You Want To Be A Wizard” and found it to be very interesting.  They say the oath, and get a little slip in the mail that says that they’re a wizard.  They meet at a local park and cast a spell and end outside in space!  There they find Fred, (Khairelikobleparehglukumeilichephriedosd’enagouni) and a small white hole, which starts a wonderful adventure.

The Last Holiday Concert, by Andrew Clements

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

This is the first one of Andrew’s books that I have read and it is about a boy who always plays pranks at the music teacher, but then the teacher decides no to tolerate the children and make them do the concert by them self(Planning, what are we going to do, what songs, etc.). But when he puts that into free time, it’s going to get harder to plan this concert. Are they going to survive?

Christopher Paul Curtis

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

Christopher Paul Curtis is an incredible author that anyone will enjoy reading.  He has a sense of humor that comes through.  I’m sure some of the things he writes about are from his personal narrative.  You feel like you personally know the characters and feel what they are going through.  They certainly get in some pretty sticky situations. His main characters are usually boys that are out to beat the odds.

The setting for Bud, not Buddy is during the depression.  You get to understand a whole other way of life.

His latest book Elijah of Buxton was a runner up for the Newbery this year.  I can’t wait to start it.
