  • Holes - There are many ironic sayings and phrases that appear in the book. What is a saying or phrase you find that is “Ironic?” Why do you think it is ironic?
  • Nothing’s Fair in 5th Grade - Jenny and the girls made a choice to hitchhike in order to get to the Carnival. Would you ever hitchhike in order to get to a place that you really wanted to go?
  • Sticks - Mickey and Joseph will go to Gameland together in order for Mickey to get better at pool. Where is a place you have been or you enjoy going that is a place where you can have fun and practice something?
  • Holes - In the story they discuss rattlesnakes throughout the book. What do you like or hate about snakes? Why do you feel the way that you do?
