Fantastic First Rehearsal
Congrats to everyone at rehearsal today. That was a fantastic start to the school year. Below is the first recording for the Wind Symphony this year. Be gentle with your comments!! Remember, you had only been playing together as an ensemble for 35 minutes. We’re going to work on dynamics and counting the 5/4 measures on Wednesday.

Hello again. For those of you in the band last year, you know me as a harsh commenter, and a flute hater (hehe). For you new guys, prepare to be mad.
*Clears Throat*
First off, EVERYONE NEEDS TO TUNE! French horns, work on those high notes. Or you could not work at all so that I can play flugal horn. Trumpets, don’t miss that entrance. Flutes…good…I guess. The dissonance here is just indescribable. Tuning is essential, welcome to big boy music, noobies. Rhythm is overall well done. Pitches definitely need work. Clarinets actually have some rhythm trouble. As Mr. Perillo said, we need to work on counting in 5/4, also dynamics. Next, I will address my own section. *Ahem* 2nd and 3rd trumpet really needs to come out, all I’m hearing is Rthvik and I (but mostly me
). SID! SID SID SID SID SID! PAY! ATTENTION! DO NOT KILL THE FLUTES AND CLARINETS BECAUSE YOU ARE FAILING TO WATCH CUES!
That is all for now. This is Trumpet999 signing off. Until next time…flutes…
Not bad for our first rehersal…needs work…don’t forget to tune
…
I agree with the things that trumpet999 said *coughs* Noah, but there are a couple more things we need to work on. The second clarinets, altos, and the horns need to come out more when they have the melody, and everyone else needs to play softer to be able to hear it. We can also work on the dynamics A LOT, cause this piece is really nothing w/o them. Other than that, we’re doing great for only a couple of rehersals
Hello, this is my first time writing on the blog but get used to seeing my name because i’m here to stay
. Now first I must say ha because I think my name is going to get a certain someone upset.
Now that I have set that aside it is time get to the song. It sounds amazing… for the first day.
We still have a long way to go. First of all we are extremely out of tune. SO TUNE!!! OR ELSE…
Next we need to count. A lot of the first time Wind Symphonists aren’t used to counting anything but 4/4…. so get used to it. And now to trumpets…. And sadly I have to agree with trumpet999 on this one… My fellow second trumpets and I have to become more confident in ourselves and play louder!
And yes i am calling myself out. 2nd and 3rd trumpets must stand up to the 1st trumpet. Mr.Trumpet999 is louder than the rest of the section. And he is sadly playing good. So we HAVE TO…. I REPEAT WE HAVE TO PLAY WITH MORE CONFIDENCE!!! But this is just the first rehearsal so we have time to improve.
All in all…. we did pretty good. See you soon!
Nice essay trumpet999. It looks like you finally have some competition (trumpet888). Well, me being a percussionist, I am not as experienced with my ears. I am the rythmmaster. I personally think that the flutes were a little luod (whoops, too lazy to fix that)
. I know that this was the first rehearsal, but the band needs more of an equal sound from each instrument. The saxes also need to quiet down a bit in the beginning. I never noticed the clarinets, it sounds much better from the back. But they did a nice job for their first try. Just a suggestion for everybody; try practicing a by yourself, at home. I agree with trumpet999. The trumpets need to come out a lot more, but not just 2nds and 3rds. You too 1st trumpet.
