November 11 rehearsal – Oceanscapes

November 11th, 2010

Here is the recording of Oceanscapes from this morning. We have about a month to go before this song needs to be played in public. Give some positive feedback as well as some comments for improvement. Just a reminder that we still have rehearsal during the half-days next week.

Also, we are down to 5 rehearsals. . . . yup, that’s right . . . . . 5.

Beyond the Sea

Ok, Jazz Band. Here is your second piece of music for the Winter. Listen to how the inner voices make the melody come out a little more. The alto solo is up for grabs at measure 62. It doesn’t matter who plays it – Alto, Bari, Flute, Trumpet, Guitar.

First Recording of Snow Day

October 26th, 2010

Congrats on a great first rehearsal. We’ve got a long way to go, but it’s an excellent start. Here is the recording of Snow Day from this morning. It’s a little rough, but we made it to the end.

Give it a listen and tell me what you really, truly think. Don’t be mean, be constructive.

Welcome Back Crossroads

September 13th, 2010

Hey All,

Welcome back to the new and improved Symphonic Band and Jazz Band blog. I hope you all had a fantastic summer and are ready to make some great music.

I will be posting a reminder schedule of early morning rehearsals as well as early morning sectional rehearsals. Please make every effort to attend these meetings!

I’ve attached a recording of 2 of the songs I’m thinking of doing for the Winter Concert. Let me know what you think.

Wow

Congrats to all the Jazz Band and Wind Symphony students on an amazing job this weekend. Two superior ratings and two best overall groups. You should be very proud. Thanks to all of you for getting me drenched this weekend. It was well worth it.

Jazz Band Rehearsal April 30

April 30th, 2010

Here are recordings of the 5 songs we played in rehearsal today. What can we do to improve the quality of the songs. Before you are critical of other sections, make sure you critique yourself. We only have 8 (yup, 8) rehearsal remaining.

Wind Symphony’s Latest Recordings

April 28th, 2010

Here are the recordings from April 28th. We have only 6 rehearsals remaining before Hershey so really be critical of yourself. What can you do to improve the overall sound of the ensemble? It’s sounding great, but we still have some work to do.

Jazz Band,

Here is the newest song that we are working on. Let me know what you think.

Because one percussionist has been begging for a recording of the song, here is “It’s All Right With Me”. Enjoy

Hershey Warm-up Piece

February 13th, 2010

Hi Everyone. I hope you enjoyed the nice 6 day weekend. Because many of you have been asking, here is the professional recording. The song is entitled “Theme and Tirade” by Richard Saucedo. For those of you who have been in Wind Symphony for 3 years now, you should remember Richard Saucedo’s name. He was responsible for “Rhythm Danse”. If you’re in District Band, you know his name because he wrote “Flight of the Thunderbird”. Give it a lesson and let me know what you think.
