Here are the recordings we made! I thought things went quite well. Consider that we performed more music than any of the bands at the festival last week and some that we have not worked on for very much time. Sure, there are some moments that could have been better. Try listening to the things that went well and enjoy the fruits of your hard work.

Gang, check this link out. This orchestra plays the Scherzo from Symphony No. 10 really, really well. The students are from a music school in Venezuela called El Sistema that works with underprivileged kids of all ages. Hang on for the second half of the video which is even wilder!

Attached to this post you will find two recordings of the Symphony No. 10, Op. 93 by Dmitri Shostakovich. The first recording is the original orchestral version with the Berlin Philharmonic and von Karajan conducting. The second recording is the transcription by Dennis Fisher performed by the University of North Texas.

This is the second of three posts containing reference recordings for the SBHS Wind Ensemble.
Attached to this post you will find a recording of La Fiesta Mexicana by the Rutgers University Wind Ensemble from their album “Hey!”
While this recording is a bit different from our interpretation it is worthwhile listening. Notice especially the unique sounds and more relaxed tempo of the first movement.
