Scales Fingerings

Monday, September 20th, 2010

Hey All,

Here are a few links to fingerings that you can use as a REFERENCE. You are not being evaluated on the fingerings you choose, but these may help you with the upper octaves. DO NOT play the rhythm shown on these links. Use the guidelines set on the audition sheet.

3 Octave violin scales and arpeggios

3 Octave cello scales and arpeggios

3 Octave viola scales and arpeggios

2 Octave bass scales and arpeggios

Also, if you do not have a metronome at home, use this site!

Good luck with your preparations, and remember to check my office door for lesson times.

Here is a clip of a part of your seating audition. Use it as a reference, and remember to be flexible with the tempo.

Cool starts at 5min 20seconds.

For violins and violas, you have an excerpt from the 2nd movement of Eine Kleine. The section starts at 4min. Remember to play the sixteenth notes using spiccato.

Chamber Orchestra Assignment

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

Hey All!

Here is your first blog assignment of the year! After watching this video, I would like everyone to react to what you saw. You can talk about the music you heard, the way the people were playing, or even the conductor’s hair! Responses should be short, concise, and may not have any inappropriate language. Sign all comments using your first and last initial followed by the name of your instrument. For example, my comment name is agconductor. Enjoy the clip!
