Important information – Concert Dates, String Quartets, Honor Society

Hi Everyone,

There is a lot of information in this post, so carefully read through everything.

String Quartets – If you participated in string quartets and would like to have it listed on your transcript, you must fill out this form and return it along with a the participation fee by Thursday May 17. Attendance at rehearsals must be 50% or higher in order to receive credit for String Quartets. Forms and payments must be returned to the main reception desk and checks should be payable to “SB Board of Education.”

Tri-M Honor Society – If you are a senior, print and fill out the form here to order your graduation cords for any subject area honor society. The form must be completed and returned to the activities office by Friday May 18. Checks should be made payable to “SBHS Activities Director.” If you are a junior, the induction ceremony will take place in the Fall. You will be notified of your duties and responsibilities as a a Tri-M Honor student before the end of the school year.


Concert Information – Remember that all students must stay for the entirety of the concert in which you play on. There is a written reflection that is part of your concert grade which must be submitted in order to receive full concert credit.


Chamber Orchestra

After School Rehearsal – Thursday May 17 from 2:30-3:45.

Dress Rehearsal – Monday May 21 from 2:30-3:15.

Concert – Wednesday May 237:30pm


2A String Orchestra

Concert – Wednesday May 23 – 7:30pm


2B/3A String Orchestra

Dress Rehearsal – Monday May 21 from 3:15-4:45.

Concert – Tuesday May 227:30pm

Chamber Orchestra Audition Recordings

For anyone who is auditioning for next year’s Chamber Orchestra, audition sign up will take place in your first classes next week. They will take place on January 24th, 26th and 27th. I’m attaching recordings of each audition piece so that you have an idea about tempo and style of each piece. Don’t forget that you can use an online metronome if you don’t have one of your own to use at home. Remember that all scales should be played with separate bows at a speed of a quarter note=120.

Concert Information for All Groups

Hey Everyone,


Here are the confirmed concert dates for next week. All concerts begin at 7:30, and you will receive information as to when you need to arrive during your regularly scheduled classes.

Monday December 12th – 2A String Orchestra

Tuesday December 13th – 2B and 3A String Orchestra

Wednesday December 14th – 1A Chamber Orchestra

Concert Dress:

As outlined in the course proficiency from the beginning of the year, the dress for the concert is as follows:

Ladies - Floor-length black dress with at least a half sleeve or a floor-length skirt with black or black slacks and black blouse; black shoes (NO SANDALS!)

Gentlemen - Black long-sleeve button down collared shirt, black slacks, long neck tie, black socks and black shoes.

If you are having difficulty figuring out what to wear, here are some examples by your fellow classmates as to what concert dress should and should not look like:
